Getting up my acting chops?

Hey, everyone. I've been taking classes for a little bit and just got a few practice groups started, so I'm pretty excited. So here's my question:
Before taking classes at UCB, I hadn't acted since I was 11 years old (I'm 26 now). I want to continue to improve and I've noticed that almost everyone else taking classes is an actor (someone who wants to perform professionally). I feel like I'm doing pretty well and improving my skills, but I still basically feel like a weak actor. So 1) can any of you actors recommend any acting class or something for beginners who are also serious (not flakes), and 2) can any of you non-actor improvisers offer your insight/advice on continuing to improve at improv? Thanks y'all
Peace
