Hal Phillips Would Like Very Much To Coach You

Hi. I'm Hal Phillips, and I want to coach your practice group or indie team!

I've been improvising since 2005, and my credits include the UCB Harold team Scootch, the long-running indie team Sherpa, and a bunch of UCB shows including Improvised Philip K. Dick, Sensory Deprivation, Airport '07, The Subject, The Buccaneer, Triple Play, and the Movie. I've taken more classes than any one person should be allowed to take, with teachers including Neil Casey, Michael Delaney, Armando Diaz, Christina Gausas, Chris Gethard, Will Hines, Anthony King, Billy Merritt, Shannon O'Neill, Charlie Sanders, Charlie Todd, Jean Villepique, and Zach Woods. I've also taken workshops with the likes of Matt Besser, Joe Bill, Bob Dassie, Peter Gwinn, Ian Roberts, TJ & Dave, and Matt Walsh. I've worked on loads of different forms, done everything from big groups to 2-prov, and I want to pass what I've learned on to you.

I love coaching, and I'm excited to tailor my practice sessions to whatever your group's goals and needs are. I like to focus on committing to your characters and choices, and on ways to make finding and playing a game as simple as can be-- but whatever you need, I can do.

I'm available right now on most nights, some weekends, and some daytimes. I'm also willing to do last-minute sessions if you need a replacement coach and I'm available. So let's do this!

Hello! this is Will Hines! I hire the teachers at UCBNY. I think Hal is terrific. He was in my Philip K. Dick class recently and knew his shit. He's taken literally 850 improv classes and done over 10,000 hours of indie shows. He's fought his way to being great! I would expect him to be good and I in fact asked him to post this as I think more people should check that shit out. That shit = Hal coaching. So there.

Starting next week, I'll be available to coach during the daytime too. Let's do improv while the sun is out!
