Auditions for Broad Comedy

Postby katiegoodman » Wed Mar 09, 2016 6:26 pm

Hey guys! Broad Comedy is auditioning two full new touring casts based in NYC. Can you help us by sharing this with anyone you think would be a good fit? We are looking for women, age 21 - 30, super funny, can really sing, and can dance at least enough to pull it off. Super available as far as schedule, and who are politically really interested in what we're doing.
Thank you!
xoxo

Hello! We are Broad Comedy, an all-women’s nationally touring feisty, feminist, liberal musical comedy and satirical sketch show. Actresses are needed for our national tour to colleges, theatres and Planned Parenthood events. We are looking for women ages roughly 21 – 30. Minorities are highly encouraged. Must be a professional actress with comedy experience. Strong vocal range required, with good harmony skills. Comedy chops a must. Must be very interested in liberal politics. Must be able to do a wide range of characters. We have a highly professional atmosphere and expectations. This is a fun, smart, savvy troupe of women. We have been touring for 12 years and have won many, many awards and festivals.

Broad Comedy will be touring mostly in the Atlantic and Northeastern regions but across the nation as well. Schedule flexibility is a must. This is a non-Equity show but we work to treat our cast as a union would and we pay comparably. Cuz, hey, we’re smart women and we give a crap about you! :)
Please do the following below. We will contact you if we would like to have you come in for in-person callbacks based on your video submission. Thanks!

To Audition:
Please email us the following by MARCH 14th:
1. Headshot and resume.
2. Youtube links to videos of you singing in a comedic style. (If you don’t already have this, please pick a song that shows your range and a home-made video is perfectly fine.) Preferably a combo of clips of some rap/hip hop, some musical theatre, and any other styles you would like to share. If you don’t have a song prepared, we recommend picking one of ours from here and do it a cappella or play it quietly in the background: https://www.youtube.com/broadcomedy
3. Comedic Monologue. (1 minute or so)
4. Dance moves – a short clip of something you’ve done, or simply put on a song and tape yourself on your computer camera just showing us you can dance. This is not a major part of the show, but it’s important that you can pull it off.
5. Introduce yourself in 1 minute or so: tell us about your work (this is a kind of casual introduction/resume). And maybe mention why this show appeals to you. We really need to be sure that this material speaks to you because it is very political and if it makes you uncomfortable it’s not a good match. We definitely have an agenda and we are proud of our work to bring women’s issues to our audiences.
6. VERY IMPORTANT: Please either tell us on the tape or email us a simply explained outline of your schedule and commitments. We have a very unpredictable schedule but if you cannot get out of your commitments to come on tour, or if this is going to just be one of too many things you do and you don’t have time to commit, then this isn’t a good fit for you. This needs to, over time, become one of your main priorities and the thing you are perhaps the most excited about.
Thanks! Please only send a total of under 5 minutes worth of material, preferably all in one video, but it’s not mandatory to be all in one place. You may send us more than one link rather than spend your time editing it all together. Thanks! And feel free to email us if you have questions: info@broadcomedy.com.
