CHARACTERS WELCOME AUDITIONS - JANUARY 2020
Characters Welcome Teams are UCBTNY’s character house teams.
Auditions for the next cycle will be held the weekend of January 10th-12th, 2020.
TEAM DETAILS
Directors: Eric Feurer, Michael Hartney, and Sarah Smallwood Parsons (subject to change)
Rehearsals: Once a week for 3 hours
Show: Last two Thursdays of the Month, 7:30pm UCB Hell’s Kitchen
Team Size: Two teams of 8 members
Term Length: Approx. 7 Months (6 original shows, 1 best-of)
Characters Welcome members develop a 3-5 minute character piece to be showcased at the monthly show. The directors will decide which pieces are chosen, and will also perform and oversee the hosting of each show.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Prerequisites are as follows - read carefully; they are complicated due to the writing & performing nature of the team. You are eligible to audition if you:
Completed a Character 101 class at UCB Training Center by January 1st, 2020
OR
Completed Improv 401 or higher between January 2018 and January 1st, 2020 AND
Completed a core Sketch Class between January 2018 and January 1st, 2020
OR
Are a current or former UCB House Team performer and have completed a UCB sketch class
OR
Are a current or former UCB House Team writer and have completed Improv 401
If you auditioned in March 2019, you are allowed to audition again.
AUDITION DETAILS
Auditions will be held January 10th-12th, 2020.
Auditions will be 3 minutes long (max).
Auditions must consist of a minimum of 3 characters. You may do impressions as long as you also do two original characters. Impressions are not a requirement of Characters Welcome and you should only do them in the audition if you can actually do them.

Deadline to submit is Friday, December 6th - 5pm EDT
Once we see the amount of interest we have, we will contact everyone about audition slots.
Please do not submit to audition if you are not available Friday-Sunday, January 10th-12th.
The Characters Welcome Teams for the next cycle will be announced by Tuesday, January 28th and the first pitch meetings will be that week to prepare for the teams' first shows in February.
