WHAT IS A UCB DIGITAL TEAM?
Digital Teams are teams of filmmakers, actors, and writers who work together to create and produce video content for UCB Comedy’s YouTube Page (youtube.com/ucbcomedy).

Digital Teams consist of a combination of DIRECTORS, PRODUCERS, EDITORS, DPs, GRAPHICS/ANIMATORS, WRITERS, and PERFORMERS, collaborating as a stand-alone production unit to create comedy videos.

Digital Teams are meant to create opportunities for UCB comedians & filmmakers to make videos they are excited about and proud of, and which represent a unique comedic voice. Members will also gain experience writing/producing for a deadline, receive production & writers room experience, build their skill set/packet/reel, and participate actively in the UCB Community.

HOW DO DIGITAL TEAMS WORK?
Teams are assembled by UCB Comedy based on eligible submissions (requirements below).

Teams will have between 6-16 members, and are assembled according to mutual comedic interests, and work to produce comedy videos inside a specific format. Current formats include TOPICAL SKETCH, FIELD TEAM, MUSIC VIDEO, ANIMATION, NARRATIVE WEB SERIES, SKETCH WEB SERIES, SHORT FILM.
Note: Team formats are not limited to the above. UCB Comedy is actively looking to expand/change team formats based on applicant interests.

Each team is asked to upload between 2-4 videos a month, depending on team size/video format. Videos will be distributed on UCB Comedy’s YouTube Page, and on UCBCOMEDY.COM

Teams will have exclusive access to UCB Comedy resources including:

Hey there!
Thanks so much for the info today! I just thought of 3 questions:
1. Are SAG actors working under SAG New Media contracts? If so, I'm assuming this will be the Producer's responsibility?
2. How many teams are you looking to build this year?
3. In our cover letter, should we state specifically the formats of teams we'd be interested in working on? Is this where we would pitch a new format idea? Or will that come out of Rounds 2 and 3?
Thank you!

Great questions!

1. Any SAG contracts will be producers responsibility. (We'll give you info on how that works once you're on a team) The videos we produce for UCB's youtube channel are typically non-union as they are unpaid.
2. Not sure yet. We're thinking 3-6. Likely 4-5.
3. Yes, in your cover letter be specific with what you'd like to get out of the team experience. You'll also have the opportunity to go into more details in round 2 and 3.

Thank!
Todd

Hello! Questions. If I'm submitting to more than one position that requires a reel, should my single mega-reel still be 3-4 minutes? Also, if I apply for more than one position, is it possible for me to get picked for just one of them? Thanks!

Please submit ONE 3-4 MINUTE REEL showcasing (and differentiating between) the disciplines you performed in each sample clip. DO NOT SUBMIT MULTIPLE REELS OR APPLICATIONS.

When moving on to Round 2, you'll know the role/roles you are being considered for, which may not be all of the roles you applied for.

Thanks!

In the meeting someone mentioned shows other than Maude that would be acceptable for writers. I think there were a few people that fell into that category.

Is there anyone we can ask to see which shows would be relevant to put on that list?

For editing reels, is there a preference towards a larger sample of shorter clips, or is a smaller sample of longer clips equally accepted if they show a variety of editing techniques?

Hi Jeremy-

There is not a comprehensive list at this time. For now, please use this criteria:

1- Writer on MAUDE NIGHT
2 -Writer of a RUNNING SHOW at the theater (a show that has gone through the spank process and been given a run)
3 - Written/Performed original Stand-Up/Storytelling/Characters regularly at booked (Not Open Mic) show(s) at the theater

If you meet this criteria, please list the specifics of your eligibility in your submission.

Thanks!
