2015 Harold Auditions-- SAVE THE DATE!

Postby MikeStill » Wed Jun 10, 2015 6:04 pm

Between September 8th and 17th we will hold the preliminary round of our 2015 Harold / Mess Hall Auditions with callbacks on September 19th and 20th.

You must be available on the callback weekend to audition.

To be eligible for 2015 Harold / Mess Hall Auditions, you must meet one of the following conditions:

1) You have been accepted in the Advanced Study Program and have taken a multi-week improv course at the UCB Training Center in LA/NY that had/has it's final class between October 1, 2014 and October 1, 2015.

-OR-

2) Are a current or former Harold / Maude / Digital Team member that has taken a multi-week improv class since October 1, 2013 that had it's final class before October 1, 2015.

-OR-

3) Were on a Mess Hall Team since October 2014.

Consider this your Harold "SAVE THE DATE"-- Sign-ups and further details will be available in August!

Only questions answered by the UCB-LA Artistic Director (me) in this thread will be considered official answers about auditions!

Quick question. Are you eligible if you haven't taken a class this year but were a former member of a Mesh Hall team?

Good question! If you were on Mess Hall team since the last audition (which currently are all Mess Hall teams that have ever existed), you are eligible to audition. Edited original post to reflect this astute question--

Question!

If a person is otherwise qualified to audition but just needs to take "a multi-week improv class," does that class have to be in the 400 series of classes or Advanced Study? Or could it be 301, 201 or even 101? I'm asking for friends who have summer scheduling issues...

Long time listener, first time caller.

Do former Harold performers have to have finished the multi-week class by a certain date? Say for instance I sign up for a class that doesn't end until shortly before, or possibly shortly after, those audition dates. Does that count?

And thanks for the Save The Date! SUUUPER helpful. Been meaning to take another class for some time and this is the kick in a batookie that I needed.

Scotty, any multi-week improv course.

Szlaga, class must be completed before cut-off date of Oct 1, 2015.

Steve Szlaga, there's a Billy Merritt 411 that's still open that you could take and be done in plenty of time. Four weeks, $200.

I am currently enrolled in a 401 that has a final performance on September 8th. Since Harold auditions are 9/8 - 9/17, I'm wondering if this class would end early enough for me to be able to audition? Or would I have to be approved for Advanced Study by the time of registration?

Hey Joey, for classes that end after the auditions instructors will "pre-approve" folks.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the notice on auditions.

I was out of the country for a gig last year, so was unable to audition, and am unfortunately going to be in New York for three months for a gig spanning over this year's auditions. The New York gig runs until November 15, so even if I were to make a team, and in the event the teams begin before Nov 15, I wouldn't be available.

Getting to the question, though... do you envision it being a necessity to have been seen at auditions to be in consideration for a Mess Hall team when they change up in January or April or whenever?

Thanks a bunch.
