The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre is hiring an Artistic Assistant for our Los Angeles operations.
This position will report directly to the Los Angeles Artistic Director, handling daily administrative tasks in order for the Artistic Director to focus primarily on the artistic operations of the theatre.
The Artistic Assistant will be a full-time, in-office employee working out of the UCB Sunset offices. UCB is open and active 7 nights a week and, as such, the Artistic Assistant will be expected to be reachable evenings and weekends as needed.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
-General administrative duties.
-Fielding and assisting with last-minute projects and shows.
-Posting and updating of the schedule.
-Reviewing and forwarding casting breakdowns to performers.
-Maintaining current performer/writer/overall UCB community contact lists.
-Managing all ticket comp requests from performers and industry.
-Coordinating with House Managers the upkeep of the Industry Mailing List.
-Coordinating PR with Social Media Coordinator.
-Maintaining up-to-date cast and show descriptions.
-Maintaining UCBT FAQs.
-Distributing information to new performers.
-Managing the filming of shows for the Artistic Director’s review.
-Coordinating tech rehearsals with the Technical Director.
-Providing administrative services for Harold, Maude, Mess Hall and Characters Welcome auditions.
-Facilitating Industry Panel/UCBCorps/Diversity Committee communication.
This job is highly administrative. Creative experience is a plus, but administrative experience will be weighed heavily.
-Strong written and verbal communications skills.
-Organization, neatness and the ability to prioritize tasks.
-A professional, enthusiastic demeanor with an understanding of the value of cooperation.
-Proficiency with Google Docs, especially Spreadsheet, knowledge about cloud-based sharing solutions.
-Ability to identify problems before they are problems.
-Systems-based solutions thinker.
-Awareness of, and experience with, social media platforms.
-Funny. And the ability to turn it off.
-Knowledge of UCB shows and performers.
-Must embrace chaos with the patience of a Buddha.
-Must love comedy and the creative process.
Compensation & Benefits:
Full-time salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include full health and dental, 401K Profit Sharing and Defined Benefit pension.
